The COVID-19 serology test (also known as an antibody test) checks a person’s blood for the presence of antibodies against SAR-CoV-2 virus. These antibodies are produced when someone has been infected with COVID-19. A positive result from a serology test indicates that a person was previously infected with the virus. In some cases, serology tests can also indicate if someone is currently infected with the virus.
